Interwoven

2019

Noor has it all - a beautiful family, a thriving fabric shop, a passion for painting her cat and friends. But Noor has always wanted to be seen as an artist - by her family, her friends and even her cat, but no one seems to take her seriously.

Li Lin is one of Singapore’s Gen X filmmakers. She makes short films, long form films, music videos, branded content and audio plays with a signature sensitivity and warmth. Her works are featured on Netflix (Asia), Disney + (Asia), iTunes and on Audible.
Li Lin has won several awards locally and internationally, such as "Best Director" at the Singapore International Film Festival. Her films have screened at prestigious festivals around the world such as the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, Short Shorts in Tokyo, the Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy, the Shanghai International Film Festival, the Hawaii International Film Festival, and many others.
Li Lin did her undergrad at Brown University and her graduate studies at NYU-Tisch Asia under an IMDA scholarship. When the opportunity arises, Li Lin teaches film-related studies at various tertiary institutions around Singapore on a part-time basis, something she's been doing for the past decade. She enjoys photography, audio books, road trips, and going to the cinema.

Ambassador's Message

Singapore

Embassy of the Republic of Singapore

His Excellency Mr. Ong Eng Chuan

Among many other illustrious projects, Wee Li Lin directed the music video for Singapore’s 2018 National Day Celebration song. Characters in the MV come from every part of diverse Singapore – young and old, cool and quirky, Malay, Chinese, Indian and other races - yet they all radiate a warm humanity that I believe is a signature characteristic of Wee’s work.

The Embassy of Singapore, like Wee in many of her projects, is interested in representing Singapore well. Our Embassy supports World Art Osaka in the hope that visitors will be delighted by the beauty of Singapore and the talent of Singaporeans. We also support other events, such as visits to Japan by the renowned Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and by Singaporean playwrights, ceramicists, orchestral conductors, and so many more. By supporting exhibitions of Singapore’s charm, we are confident you will be inspired to visit our sunny island.

We look forward to welcoming you to Singapore soon.
